I always knew that I wanted to work with children. During my senior year in high school, while involved in a mentoring program, I decided to become a teacher. My great aunt, who is a teacher in Paterson, New Jersey, also influenced me to teach. Over the years, she often shared her classroom experiences with me and told me that although at times it can be very stressful, it is such a rewarding career.

I have a B.A. Degree from Fisk University and a M.ED Degree from Tennessee State University. I was a substitute teacher in Nashville for two years before moving back home. Last year, I taught third grade near my home town in Winchester, TN, at Rock Creek Elementary. Although it was my first year teaching, I have already experienced those rewards that my aunt frequently talked about in seeing my students grow and apply knowledge that I had given them-was a wonderful experience. I am now back in Nashville and this is my first year teaching Kindergarten ELL. I am enjoying my enthusiastic kindergarteners; we are having so much fun! I believe that learning is a life long process and I hope to instill that in my students. I want my students to have a love for learning and to realize that they can do and become anything they want as long as they receive a good education.
